The market today surged on higher commodity and oil prices with the ASX S&P 200 benchmark index adding 0.2% and 0.3% for the All Ords. The Monday market opened the week on a feel good mood of better than expectated earning such as supermarket giant Woolsworth reporting its first billion dollar net profits. Online jobs database, Seek.com.au made to it to media spotlight by posting profits surpassing analysts' estimates by $800,000 with its profit officially at $19.5 million.
Meanwhile the Portfolio 1 - EW as of Tuesday 22 August 2006, gained 9.69% in total value with seven new stocks added into the portfolio this morning
Last Friday saw the Portfolio profits at $923 which then added 12.89% to $1042 by Monday closing with the same number of stocks. Tuesday, with the additional seven stocks, profits surged 57% to $1636.
All the stocks observed here are of equally weighted basis with each stocks purchased at 1000 units. Hence the name Portfolio 1 - EW (Equally Weighted). The observation of this portfolio is for the short to medium term whereby all stocks will be held until the end of the observation period with stocks "purchased" not to be sold off or actively traded, unless absolutely necessary, subject to strategy conditions.
Just a couple of hours ago, a fellow Orble blogger and Admin, Jon, asked me what kind of stock picking methods I am using, well all I can say now is at this point of time and throughout the observation period, the strategy will not be revealed until the very end as I do not know whether this method is practically and theoretically viable in the market. That is why I want you guys to be the judge.
