Hello Private Equity

Not too long ago it was the Colorado Group that was the target of an Asian private equity group and now the gears are shifted up to ColesMyer being targeted by an American private equity group known as the Kohlberg Kravis Roberts (KKR). The American outfit was joined CVC Asia Pacific, The Carlye Group and Newbridge Capital. The entry of foreign private equities into Australia cast the spotlight of possible substantial foreign ownership of iconic Australian companies but does it represent thier confidence on Australian economy for years to come? I would certainly like to believe so as Coles being a retail giant is highly affected by consumption demand which in turn is affected by inflationary pressure and of course, interest rates. No one wants to buy a business that is about to make a loss, afterall private equities do not care about taking over the management and holdings for an infinite time but to restructure its target entities in hope that thier investments will increase in value and voila, sell it off to serious bidders. Ka-Ching all the way. A real game for the seriously filthy rich.
It was certainly good news for Coles shareholders with thier shares adding 15% standing at $13.45.
On the market, the ASX S&P 200 benchmark index shed 0.1% on Friday after a fall in commodities prices. The Portolio 1 - EW cosisting of 15 shares added 8.07% gaining $923 after brokerage cost of $30 per trade. I will reveal the 15 stocks hopefully by tomorrow.
