Portfolio 701 and 1.5-EW: Making The Money

As the world crossed into the Lunar New Year of the Fire Boar, the ASX S&P 200 benchmark index yesterday created record by entering into uncharted territory of the psychological significant high of 6003.2 points. In parallel, a day later, Portfolio 1.5-EW* crossed into record books again with this time breaking the 50% return barrier.
The 20th of February, 2007 saw the Portfolio 1.5-EW* closed at 51.25% with valuation at $63,702 and after-costs profit of $20,655. Nineteen of the thirty-one stocks in the portfolio were in the positives, with the highest gainer going to DOW for having made a whopping return of 159.45%.
Meanwhile the newer Portfolio 701*, formed in January, closed at 4.85% today after a period of highs seen in the fives and sixes. Portfolio valuation closed at $54,680 and after-costs profit of $1,480, with a total of fifteen winners from the portfolio's thirth-six stocks.
Tuesday's ASX S&P 200 benchmark index closed relatlively flat by 0.4% lower to 5989.7 points on the back of investors standing on the sideline waiting for the reporting season.
