Bracing for July 2007: A downturn?
May 13th 2007 13:15
In the quest of seeking certainty and of course, make money, all sorts of manner to forecast the future are sought. No joke as there are banks that seek advice from the other side, the fortune tellers.
We are almost midway into 2007 and the markets have been nothing short of good despite some minor setbacks but generally the outlook is optimistic but will the caution-adjusted positivism be sustained for the remaining half of the year?
According to a prominent Hong Kong Feng Shui Master, Raymond Lo, the stock market in 2007 is driven by an "illusion of profitability" from the months of January to July, and according to his forecast, 2007 is reminiscent of 1997. July, 1997 was the darkest moment of the year for the Asian economies and financial markets.
But fear not, 2007's "expected" market upset, according to Master Lo, would not be as severed as 1997.
So far his forecast, released in the early of the year, have been rather accurate as the prediction of the markets for the first half of the year shooting to record highs concur with the facts.
Coincidence? Your say, mate.
But nonetheless, will Asia again be the source of the coming market upset? This time from China? Possibly.
Expect the unexpected and roll out your risk management strategy. Now.
