Happy Ending...So Far
August 31st 2006 19:08
Running on a really tight schedule so I am going to keep this short. The Portfolio 1 - EW ended the month of August on a happy note and closed at a high of 11.37% in total value. Most of the shares rose on Thursday and NLG joined the winner stocks with a gain of $10. Overall, profits rose by 13.19% closing at $2,034. Considering that the ASX S&P 200 benchmark index only gained slightly more than 2% in August, could this mean Portfolio 1 - EW beat the market? Casually, yes but because the portfolio was not expanded to reflect all the selected August stocks yet, we must rule out the beating the market notion for the time being.
Hopefully by mid next week I will be able to finalise the portfolio, conduct a performance analysis and also to run a simulated realisation of profits, for the month of August, that include transaction costs and taxation to reflect the reality of investment and trading of equities.
The real action of the portfolio starts in spring. Watch this space.
The Winner Stocks are highlighted in yellow.
