Portfolio 701: First Positive
January 13th 2007 06:27
What is the point of participating in the sharemarket? To make money of course! And it feels nothing better when the money you invested in the shares are generating returns, be it speculative or genuine investments.
Making money is making money regardless of the methods or strategies you use. But of course, the question is do you want a series of repeated patterns of returns or just one big jackpot? Ultimately it comes to the choice and investment objective of the individual.
At Benkaiser.NET Investment Portal, pragmatism rules, and any kind of strategies that work then why not? The smell of money is not fishy, that is certain.
On Friday, 12th January, 2007, the Portal's second portfolio, Portfolio 701*, made its first positive return of 0.36% after four days of negative performance since its inception for observation on Monday. Certainly a positive sign for the portfolio despite the profits are still in negative waters after being shaved off by transaction costs.
The time is forward three months or longer, if necessary, for the portfolio to perform at least as well as the previous Portfolio 1.5-EW* which generated a record top returns of 40.58% in just five months.
Portfolio 701* closed the week with a value of $52,340 and after-costs profit at -$860.
On Portfolio 1.5-EW*, it climbed 3.11% to a closing of 37.28%, valued at $57,819 and profits after costs at $14,772.
The local market had a better performance yesterday as the ASX S&P 200 benchmark index added 44.5 points to a closing of 5609.4 points aided by the recovery of the resources stocks, particularly the miners.
